MileSplit allows teams to register a B Team when enabled by the meet director. Unlike Varsity and JV designations, a B Team is treated as a separate team entry.

If B Teams are not enabled for your meet, contact the meet director for assistance.

Key benefits of B Teams

  • Separate team entry: A B Team functions as its own team, not just a division of Varsity or JV.
  • Meet fees: If meet fees are enabled, a B Team is charged as an additional team entry. Meet directors may set a different fee for B Teams.
  • Separate scoring in HyTek: B Teams download into HyTek under a different team code and score separately from the A Team.
  • Expanded entry opportunities: If an event limits entries per team (for example, two athletes per event), a program with both an A and B Team may enter athletes under both teams, allowing additional entries.

Register a B Team

Step 1: Start registration

  1. Sign in to your MileSplit account connected to your team.
  2. Open the meet page.
  3. Select Register Online Now.
  4. Begin registration as you normally would.

When you reach the Enter Athletes step, check the right side of the page.

If B Teams are enabled, you will see a Teams section.

Step 2: Select your B Team division

  1. In the Teams section, select the option to add or activate a B Team.
  2. You will be automatically taken to the Divisions step.
  3. Select which division(s) will include a B Team entry.

Step 3: Enter athletes

  1. Return to the Enter Athletes step.
  2. Use the right-side panel to switch between your A Team and B Team.
  3. Assign athletes to the correct team and events.
  4. Review all entries carefully.
  5. Submit your registration.

Before creating a B Team

Do not create a separate MileSplit team page just to enter a B Team.

Only create or use a B Team through the registration process when it is supported by the meet setup. Creating duplicate team pages can lead to incorrect or duplicated athlete records.

If you cannot register a B Team

If the B Team option does not appear during registration, the meet may not have B Teams enabled.

Contact the meet director or MileSplit Support and include:

  • Meet name
  • Meet link
  • Team name
  • Team page link
  • Description of what you are trying to register

They can confirm whether B Teams are enabled for the meet or assist with next steps.
